ROADS & HIGHWAYS
The northern Maine region is well connected to markets via a reliable and efficient transportation infrastructure.
The region has direct access to both the U.S. Interstate Highway System with I-95 serving as the major North-South highway, and the Trans-Canada Highway System with Route #2 providing excellent East-West transportation.
Custom Stations throughout northern Maine make the region a hub for international trade and commerce.
- Northern Maine shares 15 customs stations maintained by the U.S. Customs Service. Seven of the stations are open 24 hours a day and include: Bridgewater, Fort Fairfield, Fort Kent, Houlton, Limestone, Madawaska, and Van Buren.
